On fathers day me, Mum, Dad, Cameron and really half of my family went on a train trip to hebert and back. It was a fundraiser for restoring a train that use to be used in the public gardens!
It took us an hour and a half to get to and back from herbert and at first i was really nervous to go on the train but i guess i worry about everything!( knowing me...)
It was very interesting riding on the railways and looking outside at the land you usually don't see from the road! On the way back it was very bumpy and i got very dizzy, but i really enjoyed it!
I love doing different things with my family because i think its important to do things you will probably remember for ages!

A Dog Called Homeless - Book Review
Dog Called Homeless
By: SARAH
LEAN
Cally is a young girl who
has gone though
a
lot. Her mum died in a car crash on her father’s birthday and her best friend’s
mia and daisy just started to make fun of her and leave her out. So Cally
decided to
sign
up for sponsored silence for a day which means she had to not speak from 9:00am
to 3:00pm but Cally decided to take it to the next level and not speak for as
many days as she could.
One day Cally was doing a counselling session
with her teacher aid. She happened to look out the window and saw a dog and
from then on she kept seeing the dog all the time. It was like the dog was
following her everywhere. She decided to call the dog homeless!
The
book is a sad book but you will love the ending! It was the best part for me! It
is one of those endings when everything finally comes together and makes sense.
The
only thing I didn’t like was when the book got a little confusing in the middle.
It seemed to drag a bit. But other than
that it is a great and interesting book!
I think the book is best suited for 11-12 year
olds because it is quite sad.
“A
Dog Called Homeless” is Sarah Lean’s first novel. I am looking forward to reading more of
her books.

Basketball Tournament
In the first week of the school holidays, I was part of the year 7 & 8 Network Waitaki Basketball Tournament held at the Rec Centre.
St Joseph's entered a girls team which I was in.
The teams were all from North Canterbury, Mid Canterbury, South Canterbury, Central Otago and Otago.
We had four games and we won one of them. it was really rough and tough but I learnt alot! It was fun!

St Joes X factor!
On Thursday night the senior school put on a production called the X factor! i was a judge and had so much fun! im sure everyone else did! I loved the meaning of the production and how funny it was! As a judge you are on stage for quite a while because you have to watch all the acts perform. So i have to say my favourite act was the spice girls! as known as the teachers! even though i had to act like i was hating it, i thought it was pretty funny! It was my last production at the school, Which is sad but... I had fun!
see you soon!

The scream painting!
www.Michaelstaleydesigns.com |
The scream painting
The scream
is an iconic painting painted by Edvard Munch in 1893. The point of the painting
is anxiety. Anxiety is a thing when a person gets stressed or worried I think…
the picture looks like a man with his hands on his cheek screaming!
The painting
is very descriptive; it is textured with oil, pastel and tempera. It is painted
on cardboard.
I like the
scream more than the Mona Lisa because it looks more textured, but that’s my
opinion. Even though the Mona Lisa is more famous the scream is more like a
book. The painting is on the cover and on the inside there are all sorts of
mysteries! I think the scream is a little funny but it still has a meaning.
Edvard Munch
died in 1944, at the age of 80. He had more the 1,008 paintings, 4,443 drawings
and 15,991 prints! These were recovered in the Munch museum in Norway.
The scream
painting was sold for more than $119,992,600 which was a lot back in those
days, it still is now too!
Edvard Munch
was a strange man, mainly all his paintings were based on death or sicknesses. I’m not saying anxiety is a sickness though! He was never married so he called
his paintings his children; he hated to be separated from them.
I love the
scream painting because it is much textured and quite cool! It inspires me to
paint more and craft as well!
